Tyler is a second-year student at Penn State University, double-majoring in Telecommunications & Media Industries (Telecom) and in Education & Public Policy (EPP). Although these majors may seem unrelated, together they support his lifelong mission: to create as much positive change as possible. Mass communication allows him to reach broad audiences, while education equips him to address structural barriers and strengthen civic participation.
As media historian Josh Sheppard notes, early noncommercial media advocates believed that “technology could reconcile social inequalities by increasing informational access.” Inspired by this vision, Tyler aims to develop media that not only reaches people but truly serves them.
He is currently gaining hands-on experience with companies and nonprofits whose work strongly aligns with his values. At the same time, he is deepening his understanding of educational media, with the goal of conducting research in this meaningful and often overlooked field.
